The Enterprise Virtual Array with the VCS and Snapshot for VCS provide the next generation enterprise storage array.

Virtual Controller Software (VCS) is the newest generation of ultra-high performance controller software, providing storage-controller capabilities for the dual HP HSV110 Array Controllers configured in the HP Enterprise Virtual Array. One VCS base controller software licence is all that is required per controller pair, with optional Snapshot controller software also available.

SANworks™ Virtual Controller Software (VCS) V1.02 provides storage controller software capability for the HSV110 Array Controller and is provided in the VCS V1.02 software kit. Dual redundant HSV110 array controllers are configured into the StorageWorks™ Enterprise Virtual Array (Enterprise), Compaq's ultra-high performance, ultra-high capacity, and ultra-high availability VersaStor-enabled "virtual" RAID (Vraid) storage solution. One VCS base controller software license is required per controller pair; Snapshot controller software is optional. Each Snapshot license covers a pair of HSV110 controllers and is ordered separately from the required VCS Base software. Snapshot controller software is licensed by capacity point based on the disk storage capacity connected to the controller pair. Snapshot controller software V1.0 is utilized with VCS V1.0x versions.
